According to research by Hair Care Journal (Johnson, 2020), using a heat protectant increased hair’s resistance to thermal damage by up to 50%.
-
Straightening technique: Gliding the flat iron smoothly from root to tip is essential. Avoid holding the iron in one place for too long, as this can cause curls or bends, especially in fine hair. A swift, fluid motion ensures even styling results while minimizing exposure to heat.
-
Flat iron quality: Investing in a high-quality flat iron with ceramic or tourmaline plates can significantly improve results. These materials distribute heat evenly and reduce frizz. A study conducted by Styling Innovations (Brown et al., 2022) confirmed that users experienced less frizz and better shine with ceramic flat irons compared to metal options.
