Can I use Purple conditioner on brown hair

Purple conditioners also known as purple toning or color-correcting conditioners. Basically it commonly used to neutralize unwanted brassy or yellow tones in blonde or lightened hair. And they contain purple pigments that counteract the warm tones. But is it safe to use purple hair conditioner on brown hair?
